Crosslake Community Schools' pre-kindergarten-8th grade In Person Program offers a unique learning environment, specializing in multi-age classrooms and parent/guardian, teacher, and student partnerships. By design, our classes are limited to 19 students - providing for very personalized, high quality educational experiences that are difficult to duplicate in larger school settings.

The Online Learning model gives students the flexibility to pursue personal activities while completing the required courses to receive their high school diploma.

CCS is located in the Brainerd Lakes area and is steps away from Cross Lake, part of the Whitefish Chain of Lakes.


Steps are determined by years served at CCS. All new hires start at step 0.

Title I Teacher

Position Summary:

The Title I Teacher at Crosslake Community School champions the academic, social, and emotional development of early learners through targeted, in-person interventions in reading and math. By utilizing data-driven insights and a collaborative team approach, this educator identifies at-risk students and delivers personalized one-on-one or small-group instruction. This role serves as a vital link between school and home, empowering families with the resources necessary to support their child’s unique academic journey. The Title I Teacher is essential to fulfilling the school’s mission of cultivating curiosity, building confidence, and fostering deep community connections for every student.

Required Qualifications Include:

Bachelor’s degree in education or related field required

Valid Minnesota Teaching License in Grades K-5 

Minimum of 1 year of experience teaching, advising, or working with youth in an educational or advocacy setting 

Strong understanding of Minnesota academic standards and MN MTSS 

Effective instructional planning

Ability to prioritize, stay organized, and manage multiple tasks independently and collaboratively

MnMTSS Lead

Position Summary:

The MnMTSS Lead Teacher serves as a strategic leader responsible for the implementation and
oversight of the Minnesota Multi-Tiered System of Supports. This role ensures that CCS in-person
provides a positive social, emotional, behavioral development, and academic outcomes for every
student as outlined in the MnMTSS framework. The MN MTSS Lead Teacher assists teachers in
improving Tier 1 instruction while managing specialized interventions for Tiers 2 and 3.

Required Qualifications Include:

Education:

○ Bachelor’s degree in education or related field required
○ Valid Minnesota Teaching License

Experience:

○ Minimum of 1 year of experience teaching, advising, or working with youth in an
educational or advocacy setting

Environmental Education / STEM Teacher

Position Summary:

The purpose of this position is to cultivate environmental stewardship and foundational STEM skills
through immersive learning experiences. This position creates a vibrant, interdisciplinary
curriculum that connects natural resource conservation with hands-on science and engineering
practices. Guided by the Minnesota Standards, the educator empowers young students to
investigate local ecosystems, understand human-environment interactions, and develop a lifelong
commitment to sustainability.

Required Qualifications Include:

Education:

○ Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, Environmental Education, Natural
Sciences, STEM Education, or a related field.
○ Valid Minnesota Teaching License

Experience:

○ Minimum of 1 year of experience teaching, advising, or working with youth in an
educational or advocacy setting

Special Education Teacher

Position Summary:

The Special Education Teacher provides students with special needs case management, learning activities, and experiences that address their unique needs. This role ensures a l regulatory standards are met as required by federal and state governments and operates within the Teacher Code of Ethics as defined by Minnesota State Law.

Required Qualifications Include:

Bachelor’s degree in education or related field required

Valid Minnesota Teaching License in EBD/SLD or ABS

Minimum of 1 year of experience teaching, advising, or working with youth in an educational or advocacy setting

Experience in due process procedures including conducting evaluations, writing IEP’s, monitoring progress, and facilitating meetings.

Special Education Paraprofessional

Position Summary:

Special education paraprofessionals support students based on the needs and
accommodations outlined in the Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Duties are determined by the IEP team and
special education teacher.

Required Qualifications Include:

Two years of college, associate’s degree or passing score on a paraprofessional exam in reading, writing and math as required by federal law (contact Personnel Office for testing information)

Music Teacher

Position Summary:

The purpose of this position is to design and implement a comprehensive, sequential K-8 music
program aligned with the Minnesota Academic Standards in the Arts. The role establishes a
positive, inclusive environment where students develop musical literacy, vocal and instrumental
skills, and critical thinking through active creating, performing, responding, and connecting.

Required Qualifications Include:

Education:

○ Bachelor’s degree in education or related field required
○ Valid Minnesota Teaching License in Music Education

Experience:

○ Minimum of 1 year of experience teaching, advising, or working with youth in an
educational or advocacy setting

Substitute Teacher (on-call)

In absence of teacher,  on-call substitute teachers will supervise students and implement sub plans left by teachers in the In-Person program. This assignment could also include lunch and recess duty; hours are M-F 8:00-3:30. A working knowledge of web-based applications such as email and the Google suite is preferred due to the current pandemic. 

Requirement for employment

Teaching license in any content area including a substitute teacher license (requires a four year degree but no teacher training).

Substitute Paraprofessional (on-call)

In absences of paraprofessional on staff, on-call substitute paraprofessionals will work with students in a one on one or small group setting in the In-Person program. This assignment could also include lunch and recess duty; hours are M-F 8:00-3:30. A working knowledge of web-based applications such as email and the Google suite is preferred due to the current pandemic. 

Minimum requirement: 

High school diploma.

Requirement for employment

Teaching license in any content area including a substitute teacher license (requires a four year degree but no teacher training).
