Crosslake Community Schools' pre-kindergarten-8th grade In-Person Program offers a unique learning environment, specializing in multi-age classrooms and parent/guardian, teacher, and student partnerships. By design, our classes are limited to 19 students - providing for very personalized, high quality educational experiences that are difficult to duplicate in larger school settings.

The Online Learning model gives students the flexibility to pursue personal activities while completing the required courses to receive their high school diploma.

CCS is located in the Brainerd Lakes area and is steps away from Cross Lake, part of the Whitefish Chain of Lakes.


Steps are determined by years served at CCS. All new hires start at step 0.

Seat-Based Opportunities

Special Education Paraprofessional

Position Summary: Special education paraprofessionals support students based on the needs and
accommodations outlined in the Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Duties are determined by the IEP team and
special education teacher.

Qualifications

Two years of college, associate’s degree or passing score on a paraprofessional exam in reading, writing and math as required by federal law (contact Personnel Office for testing information)

Substitute Paraprofessional (on-call)

In absences of paraprofessional on staff, on-call substitute paraprofessionals will work with students in a one on one or small group setting in the seat-based program. This assignment could also include lunch and recess duty; hours are M-F 8:00-3:30. A working knowledge of web-based applications such as email and the Google suite is preferred due to the current pandemic. 

Minimum requirement: high school diploma.

School Bus Monitor

A bus safety monitor’s primary role is to ensure the safety and well-being of students
during bus transport, which includes supervising behavior, assisting with boarding and
exiting, and helping with special needs accommodations. Key duties involve
maintaining order on the bus, securing passengers, and working with the bus driver to
manage the route and address emergencies.

Substitute Teacher (on-call)

In absence of teacher,  on-call substitute teachers will supervise students and implement sub plans left by teachers in the seat-based program. This assignment could also include lunch and recess duty; hours are M-F 8:00-3:30. A working knowledge of web-based applications such as email and the Google suite is preferred due to the current pandemic. 

Requirement for employment: teaching license in any content area including a substitute teacher license (requires a four year degree but no teacher training).

Custodian/Maintenance

Responsible for the overall care, maintenance, safety and cleanliness of the school and grounds.
The janitor role is integral to the smooth and successful cleaning operations of the entire campus to maintain a clean
campus environment for our students and staff. They are heavily involved in the safe, smooth and successful
day-to-day operations of the school.
The janitor is expected to be committed to and exemplify the values of the school. The janitor maintains a calm and
professional demeanor at times that are unpleasant or face paced are imperative. They are also a team player who is
able to adapt quickly to change and understands the importance of faithfulness and an eye for detail.
