Online program
We provide a variety of online learning options for students from kindergarten to graduation.
Online learning can be a positive experience for students who can work independently, may have other obligations and may not fit the traditional mold of a classroom setting. Students must log in every day and complete work, but that work can be done at their own pace and on their own schedule.
The Crosslake Community School online learning is free for students who live in Minnesota and meets the same requirements as other Minnesota public school districts.
Your success is our success
At Crosslake Community School, we care about how each and every student is doing because their success is our success. If you are interested in online learning, fill out the initial admission form below. We’d love to show you what we’re all about.

Postsecondary Enrollment Options
Students entering 10th, 11th and 12th grade are eligible to participate in the Postsecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) program and earn both high school and college credit while in high school.
Join us
Most PSEO courses are offered on the campus of the postsecondary institution, and some courses are offered online. Each participating college or university sets its own admissions requirements for enrollment into the PSEO courses. Students in 11th and 12th grade may take PSEO courses on a full- or part-time basis, and 10th graders are eligible to enroll in PSEO on a more limited basis.
If you are interested in participating in PSEO, please contact Natalie Grady, School Counselor + Social Worker at nataliegrady@crosslakekids.org.
There is no charge to PSEO students for tuition, books or fees for items required to participate in a course.
However, students may incur fees for equipment that becomes their property when the course or program is completed or textbooks that are not returned.
Funds are available to help pay transportation expenses for qualifying students to participate in PSEO courses on college campuses.
Courses taken through the PSEO program may meet high school graduation requirements. Crosslake Community School has the authority to decide which subject area and standards the PSEO course meets. For current information about the PSEO program, visit the Minnesota Department of Education’s Postsecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) webpage.
Meeting students where they are
Crosslake Community School offers online learning for students from kindergarten through graduation.
While students must log in every day and complete work, with online learning, they are free to learn at their speed and on their own schedule. Our online school follows the same requirements as all Minnesota public schools for testing, special education services and teacher licensure.
Families who want to use our curriculum but retain homeschooling status or live outside of Minnesota can enroll and pay a reasonable tuition rate to access our curriculum and instructors.

A breath of fresh air
Regardless of age and grade, we believe students can learn and grow to be environmental stewards.
We intertwine environmental education at each grade level. For our K-5 students, environmental concepts are woven into all standard curriculum such as science, art and crafts, math and more.
Our middle school students, grades 6-8, collaborate to provide synchronous weekly group meetings to build a community of learners. In-person field trips to our seat-based school in Crosslake are offered for students to meet each other and do fun activities together such as planting trees or restoring shoreline. They have the opportunity to do these projects with their teacher and other students. Our unique course Human Encounters with Nature also incorporates art and environmental education.
Our oldest students, grades 9-12, focus their environmental education through course electives and in-class projects. Math, English, Science, Social Studies – Electives (MESS-E) interdisciplinary projects follow a chosen environmental issue over the course of the semester or year. For example, the 2022-23 school year focuses on Clothing Pollution.
